Blend of high-impact fibre, herbs and nutrientsG.I. Fortify provides comprehensive relief for constipation. Psyllium, or Plantago ovata, is a valued source of soluble fibre. Soluble fibre absorbs water to form a gel, increasing stool volume when taken with appropriate amounts of water to promote larger and softer stools for healthy bowel movements. As the bulk moves through the intestine, it also aids in collecting and eliminating other waste and toxins from the intestinal walls. Soluble fibre is fermented slowly in the colon by intestinal microflora, which further contributes to increased fecal mass. The fermentation process produces short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which offer beneficial effects for healthy colon cell function as they are important energy sources for the colon and may regulate colonic transit. Furthermore, SCFAs maintain an acidic intestinal environment, providing optimal conditions for a healthy intestinal microflora. Flax is an additional source of soluble fibre, and also contains fatty acids and lignans. G.I. Fortify also contains the amino acid l-Glutamine, plus a combination of deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), aloe, slippery elm and marshmallow root. Additionally, it includes an equal proportion of three fruit extracts, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica and Emblica officinalis, which have a long traditional history of use in the Ayurvedic medicine Triphala, literally translated as “three fruits.

Non-Medicinal Ingredients

Recommended Use: Provides gentle relief of constipation. Promotes bowel movements by increasing bulk volume and water content. Recommended Dose: Adults: Add 1 scoop to 240-360 ml (8-12 oz) water. Shake, stir or blend briskly and drink immediately. Drink an additional 8-12 oz serving of water following. Take once daily, 2 hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products. Daily water intake should be increased when consuming this product.
Warnings: Do not use if you have hypokalemia, high blood pressure, a kidney or cardiovascular disorder, diabetes, chronic gastrointestinal disorder, abdominal pain, nausea, fever, vomiting, difficulty swallowing or are taking thiazide diuretics, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroids, stimulant laxatives or other medications which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance. Do not use if you are experiencing a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for more than 2 weeks, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, or failure to defecate following the use of another laxative product. Consult a healthcare practitioner immediately if you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product. Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking blood thinners or medications which inhibit peristaltic movement, have a liver or bleeding disorder, or follow a low protein diet. Consult a healthcare practitioner if symptoms worsen or if laxative effect does not occur within seven days. If you experience abdominal pain,cramps, spasms or diarrhoea while using this product, reduce dose or discontinue use. Effects observed 12-24 hours after first dose andmay take 2-3 days. Hypersensitivity such as allergy has been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use. May cause temporary gas or bloating.
