Genestra Active Folate 1000 is a biologically active folate formula providing 1,000 mcg of folate per capsule from Metafolin — calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, a pure, physiologically active and bioavailable form of the folate found naturally in foods. Unlike folic acid, this active form does not require conversion in the body and does not mask a vitamin B12 deficiency. Folate is primarily involved in cell division, DNA synthesis and methylation reactions, including the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. It helps the body metabolize proteins and form red blood cells, helps prevent folate deficiency, and — taken daily before and during early pregnancy — helps reduce the risk of neural tube defects. The vegetable capsules are ideal for vegans. Each bottle contains 90 capsules.
